The General Manager of Imo Newspapers ltd, organizer of the Statesman Communities development awards, Barr. Lady Margaret Dibia has congratulated all the recipients of the award for their community development efforts and for coming to receive the awards. She assured those whom their awards were omitted that it would be rectified and sent to them wherever they are.
She appreciated the governor of Imo state, Distinguished Sen Hope Odidika Uzodinma for reviving and rebranding the Statesman newspapers which used to be the best among Nigeria media outfits by ensuring that the newspaper is at newsstands everyday.
She stated this during the Statesman Communities development awards held on 14th October 2023, at Rockview hotels Owerri, Imo state.
Barr Margaret Dibia said the programme which is a rare decade award was born out of her imagination to honour those developing their communities selflessly as to encourage them to do more adding that when they had the first edition 10 years ago at All Seasons hotels, the capacity of the hall was filled to the brim.
” This the second edition of the program and the response was low many citing insecurity as their excuses, she noted.”
According to her, the program is part of the company’s corporate social responsibility to ensure that persons who have rendered selfless services to their Communities, nations, states be recognized and honoured so that others can be encouraged because the reward for good work is more works.
The GM explained that the galaxy of people selected were carefully nominated by their traditional rulers, PGs, Development center coordinators, etc because of the projects they had carried out in their Communities. ” It is not everybody we selected, we don’t sell awards, she retorted,”
One of the recipients, Mr Ugochukwu Iwuanyanwu, Ogbuefi ochinanwata, the CEO of Blessed Ugo doors thanked the Almighty God and the Statesman newspapers for the award.
