disowned Chief Ukaegbu.
The Imo State chairman of Labour Party[LP] Barr. Callistus Ihejiagwa {KSJI} has declared that the party is focused for victory come Nov.11 2023 despite destabilization planted by opposition.
Barr. Ihejiagwa told EvergreenNewsAfrica in an interview in Owerri that the opposition and the incumbent Governor of Imo State under APC is doing everything humanly possible to destabilize the party by planting woofs but hinted that the party is matching forward.
He disclosed Chief Joseph Ukaegbu aka Ikenga who has pasted his posters recently in and around Owerri as the governorship candidate of Labour party is not their candidate.
The chairman stated that the party has one legitimate candidate for the Nov 11, 2023 election in the person of Senator Athan Achonu from Umunumo in Ehime Mbano Local Government of Imo State.
According to Barr. Ihejiagwa, the party held its primary for selection of the Gubernatorial candidate in April 15, 2022 where Senator Athan Achonu emerged and ever since then majority of the contestants have embraced him and the party is moving forward.
He accused Chief Ukaegbu of being funded by APC against the party adding, “before the Obedient movement that ushered in our Presidential candidate, some people were bought to buy nomination forms to destabilize and cause disaffection in our party.”
The Party Chairman hinted that Chief Ukaegbu did not participate in the party’s primaries and that there is no count order as to challenge the election of Senator Athan Achonu as our Guber candidate.
