Urges ‘Ndi Imo’ to support the Police and other sister security agencies in the fight against terrorism
The Commissioner of Police, Imo State Command CP Aboki Danjuma has on the 29th of November, 2023, convened a high-powered inter-agency meeting with security chiefs in the state at the Command headquarters, Owerri. The meeting was necessitated by the series of attacks in Ezinihitte Mbaise and Ahiazu Mbaise LGAs by disgruntled elements suspected to be members of the proscribed IPOB/ESN.
The all-important security meeting, provided an opportunity for security chiefs in the State to carry out an in-depth security threat analysis and cross-fertilize ideas with the view of emplacing enhanced collaborative strategies that will undoubtedly assist in the ongoing crusade against all forms of violent crimes in the State even as we gear towards the yuletide season.
The meeting which was held in the CP’s office had in attendance the heads of respective security and law enforcement agencies in the State, including; the 34 Artillery Brigade Commander, Oguta Naval Base Commander, Air Force Commander, Director of DSS, NSCDC Commander, Federal Fire Service Commander, FRSC Commander, the Comptrollers of Immigration, Correctional Service, and Customs Service.
Accordingly, the State Joint Task Force (JTF), comprising the Armed Forces, Police, and other security agencies has been reinforced with adequately equipped operatives. They have been strategically deployed and mandated to embark on an intelligence-led raid of criminal hideouts and round-the-clock patrol across the nooks and crannies of the State, especially the violent-prone areas. More so, contingency operational plans that will guarantee peaceful celebrations of the yuletide seasons in the State have been emplaced.
The Command wishes to inform the good people of Imo State that the massive deployment of security operatives and ongoing operation is not meant to intimidate them but to flush out criminally minded elements from the State and strengthen their confidence in going about their lawful business. The CP Danjuma calls on ‘Ndi Imo’ to continue to cooperate with the Police and other sister security agencies by providing timely and actionable information that will assist in the fight against terrorism in the State
To this end, the Commissioner of Police reaffirms the Command’s unwavering commitment to upholding the rule of law and professionalism while
collaborating with other sister security agencies in the State.
